Project Description
Produced as a companion piece to display alongside a large mural at the Wildling Museum of Art & Nature, this short film tells the story of the Valley Oak. One of the three predominant varieties of oak tree species found in California, the valley oak with its broad-reaching limbs, large acorns, and lobed leaves stands out as an iconic tree species only found away from the coast and at the lower elevations of California’s interior. Individual valley oaks have been known to live for hundreds of years and play an important role in the arid ecosystems found throughout California’s valley landscapes.
Filmed in 4k by natural history cinematographer Elliot Lowndes and produced by Jeff McLoughlin for the Wildling Museum in Santa Ynez, California. TRT: 13;25
